Original real photo postcard depicting a large formation of German soldiers assembled in an open yard during the First World War. The men are grouped in ranks, facing forward, with officers visible in front and along the edges. Several tall flagpoles with pennants can be seen overhead, while wooden barracks-style buildings line the perimeter. The scene conveys the scale of troop organization within a German military installation during the conflict.
The reverse carries handwritten German text, including reference to a “Truppentransporter” (troop transport), offering contemporary annotation and further affirming the postcard’s wartime context. The card is printed in standard divided-back format and remains an authentic period artifact.
Such images serve as valuable documentation of the social and organizational aspects of the German Army during World War I, distinct from battlefield views, and are of interest to collectors specializing in military postcards, WWI ephemera, and photographic records of early 20th-century European armies.
