This genuine 1935 press photograph captures Joan Helen Jebbett of Coventry, England, who at just 14½ years old was believed to be Britain’s youngest flying club member. Taken at Whitley Aerodrome near Coventry, the image shows Jebbett in the cockpit, preparing for one of her 30 logged flights. Her ambition was to earn her “A” Licence and pursue a professional flying career — a remarkable goal for a teenage girl in the 1930s. Includes original typed press caption on the reverse.
