Rare original vintage photograph showing a Cadet utility glider in the early phase of tow-launch, photographed in flight over a grassy field with a line stretching back to the tow aircraft. This image was captured by noted Elmira, New York photographer Fred T. Loomis, whose embossed mark and stamp appear on the photo front and back. A paper caption reads, “A Cadet utility glider takes off.” Handwritten note on reverse says "Hold for Garrison."
This glider is likely a Schweizer model used in Civilian Pilot Training Program or early cadet glider instruction. Fred Loomis documented many soaring events at Harris Hill, making this image a valuable piece of American glider history.
A striking and authentic piece for collectors of aviation, glider, or Elmira/Harris Hill ephemera.
