Original 1955 press photograph by Floyd H. McCall of The Denver Post, showing California aircraft manufacturer Ted Nelson with his Hummingbird motor-glider. Designed with an auxiliary engine for self-launch capability, the Hummingbird represented a significant step forward in mid-century soaring technology. The image also features Dr. and Mrs. George Downsborough in the foreground cockpit and Mr. and Mrs. David Potter in the rear seat, preparing for an eastbound flight. Reverse includes typed caption, date stamp (July 30, 1955), and partial press clipping. A rare and well-documented piece of postwar aviation history.
