Original sepia-tone real photo postcard, published by Leonar (card number E 197), dating from the interwar period (1920s–1930s). The image captures a group of civilians and aviators gathered around an early German motor-glider on a grassy field. The small aircraft, featuring a low-wing monoplane design with exposed cockpit and front-mounted propeller, reflects experimental and sport aviation trends of the era.
The individuals in the image are dressed in contemporary interwar civilian attire, with some in aviator gear, suggesting either a demonstration or a private flight event. The reverse retains its unused divided back and bears the Leonar publisher imprint, a well-known German photographic postcard producer active during this period.
This postcard is significant as it visually documents the early development of powered gliding and experimental light aviation in Germany between the wars. Such images provide researchers and collectors with evidence of the rapid evolution of flight technology, from pure sailplanes toward powered sport aircraft.
