Original World War II photograph of a rare U.S. Army Air Forces Taylorcraft TGS-1 glider in flight, serial number 42-57294, clearly visible on the fuselage. The image shows the glider under tow, with multiple crew and passengers visible through the windows.
The Taylorcraft TGS-1 was one of the least-produced U.S. military gliders of WWII. While the Waco CG-4A became the standard American troop glider, the Army also contracted Taylorcraft to build a small number of TGS-1 models. Very few were constructed, and surviving images of these aircraft are uncommon.
This photograph is a significant historical record of the U.S. glider program, illustrating one of the rarest American WWII troop gliders. Its clarity, combined with the visible serial number, makes it especially valuable to aviation historians, archivists, and advanced collectors of World War II airborne history.
