This is an original WWII-era Honorable Discharge patch, often referred to as the “Ruptured Duck”, worn by U.S. Army personnel who had completed their service honorably during or after World War II.
Featuring a golden eagle inside a circle on an olive drab lozenge-shaped patch, this insignia was sewn above the right breast pocket to signify honorable discharge. It allowed veterans to continue wearing their uniforms home after demobilization, due to clothing shortages, and served as a visible mark of distinguished service.
